I wish to find a recent (last 60 days) example of a police investigation that has used a suspect composite developed by a specific kind of computer software. The media reports may not name the computer software (called FACES) but the composites are easily recognized, they have a particular look to them and will often have a trademark in the lower left hand corner. It is possible that an image search engine might find these examples, or google alert etc. I would like to find more than one example, and so, if permitted I will post this question more than once. Thank you. | |

Hello lzz-ga, The maker of the FACES product is IQ Biometrix. Their website shows some police cases that used their product but none of them are from the last 60 days. http://www.iqbiometrix.com/faces_at_work_front_line_stories.html Since Wisconsin and Quebec police just signed up as customers, you may be able to find additional cases soon. http://www.iqbiometrix.com/investor_relations_overview.shtml FREMONT, Calif, March 9, 2004 IQ Biometrix Inc. (OTCBB:IQBM) today announced that Wisconsin law enforcement agencies will get training in a new leading edge technology to identify, track and apprehend criminals. more FREMONT, CA, March 05, 2004 IQ Biometrix Inc. IQBM announced today that the Ecole nationale de police du Quebec, Quebec Police Academy, will use IQ Biometrix's FACES(TM) 4.0 technology in its advanced training... So, is there no way you can recommend to do an image search, or use some other method, to identify current cases regularly? |

You will need to go through some steps to get the answers you want. Try this search on Google News: http://news.google.com/news?as_q=&svnum=10&as_scoring=d&sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=police+sketch&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nsrc=&as_nloc=United+States&as_occt=any&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_mind=10&as_minm=3&as_maxd=9&as_maxm=4 Then you will need to call the police agency listed in the article to find out if they use FACES software. The following article has a slide show where the fourteenth slide appears to be a FACES composite. I didn't bother calling the agency. I'll leave that to you. |

Thank you to both. I had thought there could possibly be a more efficient way to find these stories. But it looks like I will go back to old fashioned search through news services. Do either of you want me to accept your comments as an answer. I anticipate using google answers again (in fact, in the next five minutes) so I don't want to appear unresponsive to assistance. |
