Hi bubu1970, From the Optical Engineering magazine website: "A phase mask is itself a grating, etched in silica, that diffracts UV light at normal incidence into the +1 and -1 diffractive orders. These two orders interfere to create the desired interference pattern just behind the mask, which is where the fiber is placed. Typical exposure times vary from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the type and strength of grating." http://oemagazine.com/fromTheMagazine/tutorial/tutorial101.html StockerYale Inc. is a world leader in phase mask fabrication. On their website you'll find detailed information on the function of phase marks with diagrams and formulas: "Introduction to Phase Masks" http://www.stockeryale.com/o/lasiris_pm/index.htm This paper presents an investigation of a fabricated fiber grating device characteristics and its applications, using a phase mask writing technique: "A phase mask fiber grating and sensing applications" http://www.psu.ac.th/PresidentOffice/EduService/journal/25-5-pdf/07fiber.pdf I hope this information is useful. Google search terms: "phase mask" "phase mask is" OR "phase marks are" gratings | |
