I am looking for food grade (USDA) liquids that are NOT soluble in water and
can be flavored. Some possible catagories may be based in edable oils,
edable jelletins or edable gums. I also need to know if the resulting
chemicals will disolve when combined with water at elevated
tempertures and are they soluble with each other.

Hello alienson-ga,

This is an interesting question. It may very well turn out to be only
partly answerable.

I'd appreciate if you can clarify a few things for me:

1. Your question specifies USDA-approved liquids, but I assume you
would be just as satisfied with items approved by other authorities,
such as the FDA. Is this correct?

2. There are thousands of items approved for food use, and many
hundreds of these are liquids. Many of these are fairly obscure,
minor-use components, such as "oregano oil". Can I assume these are
not of interest to you?

3. Specific solubility data for each liquid may not be available, but
generalized information (such as oils are generally insoluble in
water, alcohols are partly soluble in water) are available. Would
this general sort of information on solubility suffice?

4. Lastly, solubility information at high temperatures (in water) and
with one non-water liquid in another might also be impossible to come
by.

Given the shortcomings in the available data, please let me know how
you would like researchers to proceed on your question.

Thanks.

1. Yes I think FDA approved liquid would also surfice. 2.Obscure items
have not been eliminated so I am interested in them. May not have
to be liquid per say. Could possible be a semi liquid similar to a
gum. 3. I would like specific solubility solutions if possible but
general information may be acceptable if no alternative is available.
4. By high Temp I mean atmospheric temps that would seem normal
during shipping of such items. I hope this helps. Thank you. Let me
know if I can help you further. Thank you.
