"The Gift That Keeps On Giving" is a slogan used for many years in selling subscriptions to "Sports Illustrated." The slogan has been widely distributed elsewhere (and has inspired many jokes), but Sports Illustrated's television ad campaign of the 1970s popularized it. In the early 1980s, I was involved in the production of a cable television advertisement that used the slogan. At that time, the promotion offered a free football-shaped telephone when you gave a gift subscription to "Sports Illustrated." The line "The Gift That Keeps On Giving" was prominently featured in the ad. If anything is unclear, please request clarification; I'll be glad to offer further assistance before you rate my answer.
