I understand the railroads overexpanded sometime in the 1800's and
began to go bankrupt and consolidate. I am looking for some detailed
history as to who were the players, what drove them to bankruptcy and
more specifically what role did "over expansion" play. I would be
looking for quotable sources and links as well as a pretty thorough
narrative.
