My personal opinion is that teacher certification has very little to do with student achievement. Yes, teachers need to have expertise in the subjects taught but I think it's much more important to have a love for teaching -- and for the students. Teaching is as much an art as a skill and teachers who can ignite the desire to learn and inspire the student are more precious than all the certified experts who can jump through all the administrative hoops. ~ czh ~ |
