Hi Hummer,
This is John the business and franchise broker person.
I appreciated all of your information. Although, I'm swamped with
various things including family obligations, classes, my own research
, etc.
Can you suggest someone who can help me with my research? Could you
suggest an ad for the Dallas Morning News that would capture what I
need? What would be the suggested language for a professional
researcher here in Dallas. Hopefully, it would be a short time job but
I need someone who can quickly shift through all of the information
and give me the best leads and best possiblilities on the information
you already provided.
What would text of an ad should I use and what hourly figure should I offer?
I would prefer a local person so we can meet and discuss all of my
parameters, dislikes and likes. We could also meet or discuss via
email or phone, the results and my constructive criticism or tell them
they're on the right track.
I want this information pretty quickly so I have a firm grasp on
what's out there and proceed. I've already done some of my own
research and contacted companies but I would like to see an almost
complete list.
Thanks, Johnster
Do you understand what I'm looking for and the nature of this question? |

Hi Johnster!
Good to hear from you. It's funny, I was just thinking about you
today. We were out doing errands and I guess I must have bored
everybody to tears, because I'd point to a business and say "That is a
franchise - it costs $xxx to get into that one". Oh look, there's
another one - now that one doesn't cost as much." etc etc.
Yes, I believe I understand you... you would like help in writing an
ad for your local paper. You would like to find someone with a
knowledge of businesses/franchises, and maybe alittle psychology too,
who would help you come up with your "short list".
Let me sleep on this and see what I can come up with. I'm a bit
worried about what hourly figure to offer since I don't live in Texas
- and, I suppose alot would depend on their experience, education,
etc. Do you think you should put a figure in the ad or just say
something like "Wage to be determined, in line with your experience"
or something to that effect?
I wish I could do the research for you, but I agree, you need to meet
in person and be able to talk on the phone. Give me time to think
about this and I'll get back to you Thursday - when are you planning
on placing the ad (how long do I have)?
Till then,
hummer

Hi Hummer,
Basically, I would like a local person to do as much research into
franchises, franchise representatives, and businesses for sale. I
don't want any stone unturned. I want to be able to talk to this
person in person.
How would you write an ad that would make it clear it's part time and
a one-time only deal. How would you determine real researchers from
neophytes?
What salary or hourly rate should I provide?
Does that help?
Please ask any questions.
I'm leaving around Noon tomorrow to the East Coast for Easter and
would like to put an ad in the paper tomorrow.
Please advise.

Hi Hummer,
I need it by tomorrow at Noon.
I'm leaving town for several days and the cutoff for ads is Friday at Noon.
Again, I want to separate the wheat from the chaff. I want people who
are like professional Google researchers. I want to make it clear it
is short duration and part-time. I would like someone near me in North
Dallas.
I'm willing to pay an hourly wage plus a bonus for results. What do
you recommend?. I don't care about the number of lines in the ad as
long as it is very explicit in the requirements.
I want someone who needs some extra income not a full time job. I want
someone who knows the franchise and business broker business. This
would be extremely helpful. I want someone I can talk to frequently,
meet with and discover all of the opportunities that are out there.
Please advise.
Johnster.

John, I don't think I have enough time to write an ad for you, I'm
sorry. But I can suggest where you can go to get help from a business
counselor (I'm sorry we didn't think of this sooner). The Service
Corps of Retired Executives Association (SCORE) provides free help to
people just like yourself, and best of all, they have a chapter in
Dallas.

I really think you should give SCORE a try. If you'd still like a
researcher to help you write an ad, perhaps it would be best to expire
this question and post a new one with a different Subject so more
researchers will look at it.
Good luck!
