Hello, I am striking out all over the place looking for Tull's double CD unedited original LIVE version of Bursting Out. The inferior edited (with at least three key songs missing) One CD version pops up everywhere with posers trying to tout is as the OOP original LIVE version including people who are selling it for comparatively huge sums of money. What a shameful sham. [Amazon.com has some informative reviews posted by people warning unsuspecting consumers about the 1CD version - if only I had read that ahead of time] So that brings me to my first question: As one seller on half.com rudely tells me that only the 1 CD edited version is available on CD format - is this true? I have seen 2CD versions that web-sites such as Amazon and gemm.com member sellers claim to procure by Special Order.....but what does that really mean? I have come across one web-site where they are selling CD-ROM format for Tull collection and one of those collections contain Bursting Out LIVE. But I have no idea if these CD-ROMS are licensed legally or if they can be played in any CD player or if it even has the full unedited version of Bursting Out. I think I had sent theman e-mail but never heard back - that makes me a little suspicious]. To put it in short, I would like to purchase (only) the DOUBLE CD original version on CD format (am already getting the LP version - it is in the mail) if it is available anywhere in the world. It obviously must NOT be a CDR - nothing short of an original version will do. Have been scammed plenty including purchasing the edited 1CD version which I sent as a gift to a friend in another continent....any I was really disappointed (not nearly as much as my friend) that it turned out to be an inferior incomplete 1CD version. So I will seek professional help this time to see if any of you worthy researchers can land me the desired Bursting Out LIVE original unedited album [did I say that enough number of times?] Thank you! Cheers, Wayrad. |

Dear wayrad, Although I am rather a fan of 50s' Rock'n'Roll than of Jethro Tull's style, I have some experience in locating rare CDs. In this case, the first thing I did was trying to find out whether a double-CD version featuring the full original album exists or the rude seller at half.com was right. It quickly turned out that a double CD with all 18 tracks of the 1978 live LP has indeed been presented to the public by EMI, but it was produced and distributed in Europe only, as it seems. Availability in the United States was therefor quite limited. Alas, the major European dealers such as the national branches of Amazon or CyberCD, list the double-CD-version as 'not available anymore'. However, this is not the end of the road. Whenever I search for rare CDs, I seek help at Rockhouse Music. This is a Dutch music mailorder dealer with legendary reputation for doing the impossible among insiders and music lovers. They keep an extensive stock of out-of-print CDs - from which they managed to get me an extremely rare Buddy Holly box set once -, and an search in their database revealed that they still have copies of the 2-CD-version of Jethro Tull's 1978 live album "Bursting Out" for sale: http://www.cdexpress.com/php/gettrackinfo.php?arart=601976&supp=rgu With $ 30.55, it is not cheap, but on the other side it is a collector's item. Nevertheless, as I know from experience, there might be only a small number left in stock, so you should decide soon whether to order the CDs or not. Ordering itself will not prove a problem: Rockhouse Music delivers worldwide and accepts all kinds of payment: http://www.cdexpress.com/UK/orderUK.html Full contact information: Rockhouse Music B.V.
