Hiya Tim1157,

There are a few different ways you could go about getting a photo onto
ceramic tile. The first, and easiest, though probably more costly
would be to have it done for you.
There are places that will do it, such as:
"Photo Murals (Photos to murals on tiles) can be created from customer
photos. We transform snapshots into murals. Each piece of artwork is
unique because customers select the design style, color scheme, but
most importantly, their own subjects from photos they submit. Display
indoors. Below are examples of the possibilities. We also can create a
free form design using ceramic, tumbled marble tiles or glass tiles."

or
http://theinkworks.com/

You could also get the paper and do it yourself.
There is a process called Dye sublimation heat transfer that you can
do with transfer paper.
" "Dye sublimation" has two meanings, dye sub printer (resin or wax
ribbons) or else dye transfer where the ink sublimates when heated
during the transfer overlay process. To understand both aspects
consult the FLAAR reports on "dye sublimation power" and the separate
FLAAR report on "Dye Sublimation Heat Transfer for Decorating
Textiles, and other Materials."

This article and the links within can be seen at

There is also a way to make rub on decals:
http://www.beldecal.com/create.cfm

Alternatively, you can send them your photo and they will make them
for you and send them back with instructions on how to apply them.
Bel Inc Now Offers Custom Designed Rub-On Art Transfers
http://www.beldecal.com/rubon.cfm
"BEL INC is a manufacturer of custom Rub-On decal transfers. For
information on pricing, minimum order requirements and submitting your
artwork, please contact us at (305) 593-0911. You may also email us
with your questions. Please reference your email "Rub-On" for a prompt
reply.

on the other hand, http://www.changeyourart.com/ also does some custom
work for you or makes you transfers.

Here is a website with all sorts of links to transfers and where to
purchase materials.
http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Apparel/Imprinting/Heat_Transfer/
And, this site as well
http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Gifts/Personalized/Photo_Transfers/

There is a book with techniques:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1571455825/002-5571530-7377611?v=glance

The way I found all of this information was with a google search for
"transfer photo to ceramic tile"

So, how to get it done, a few idea on how to do it yourself, either
partway or all the way, and places to get materials and some other
links with relevant info. I hope your tiles, whether for yourself or
someone else turn out wonderful.
