Where and how can I obtain a large, thick, children's playing mat that
has the monopoly design?

Just a question, is this for them to play the actual game on, or just
to fit a theme. I ask because if it's for them to play the game on
because of the large size, I have some other products you may enjoy
seeing ( which I will post as a comment if I can not find a mat) as
well. Also, have you ever seen a mat like this or are you just hoping
one is made?

Thanks,
Nenna-GA

I have not seen a mat like this anywhere; I am hoping it exists. I
want to use it for a dual purpose, neither of which is necessarily to
play monopoly on it. I want to use it for a theme birthday party for
a small child and then pass it on to my brother as a baby gift when he
will hopefully have a baby because he is a collector of monopoly
paraphernalia.

Not sure if you are willing to pay this much but a company called
Bachmann makes a train set that comes with a 4 1/2 foot square
Monopoly play mat. It sells for $75.99 on Overstock
(http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?cid=17436&PAGE=PRODUCT&PROD_ID=24639&fp=F&siteID=TMJ91GtDD_o-k1_1kUcwPJRq3.30IClj0Q).
I'm unable to find the mat by itself though.

Greetings Ima:

I searched for awhile but didn't find anything concrete. However,
here are my results:

This post offers a 78"x78" Monopoly play rug (new, from 1997) for sale
but it's dated in the latter part of 2003 so it may not still be
available:

Someone responded in January of 2004 requesting pics:

There is also a Bachmann HO Monopoly Train Set that comes with a
Monopoly play mat at

Giant Monopoly game pieces are available at http://www.greatbigstuff.com/monopcs

Monopoly throw blanket
http://www.cheril.com/mcdonald/monopoly/throw_blanket.htm
However, this has woven in cards and pieces as if someone's been playing the game
