Question ID: 327290
i want a drop down menu in flash. my only gripe is that i dont want
the top area of my page wasted by designating a large amount of space
to a flash movie for the drop downs themselves. someone told me that i
can put a layer and put the flash move in this layer so that the drop
downs would then extend over my static html or asp area of the page
and not have to waste that space. is this possible. is so can someone
point me to how or send me a sample. the less work i have to do the
larger the tip

Please examine the following sites to determine the usability
of the examples there. The first is a graphical javascript
menu, in which it may be possible to insert a flash movie.
Hover over 'Condo Rentals' in the menu:

The second is a flash menu which they say will only show up
in IE. It shows up in Mozilla, for me, but does not follow
the page as you scroll down, as it does in IE:

Let me know what you think...

these are not what i had in mind per se. what i mean is if i had a
flash menu then the flash file would then have to call a layer which
would just that submenu in it. this seems exceedingly complex. is that
how u are guessin it would work?

I'm not familiar with the layering you describe.
Perhaps another researcher will be.

The only possible way to creative a dropdown menu with flash the way
you are describing would be be making a flash with a transparent
background.

Ok.. i've included a URL to a swf that do what you want it to do. If
you like it, let me know and i can tweak it for your site. The menu's
are completely rendered through code.
