Hello akhilbond~

A state issued ID card looks a lot like a driver's license, but does
not permit you to drive. It's designed to give you a "confirmed"
source of ID, which can be used for everything from purchasing
alcohol, to ID needed to open a bank account.

You can obtain a state issued ID card by going to your local DMV. The
DMV will require certain paperwork from you; this varies from state to
state, but often includes two or three of the following:

birth certificate
military ID card
passport
social security card

You'll also need proof of residence, which usually means several
recent bills showing your address.

There is usually a fee for obtaining an ID card.

To find out what your state DMV requires and charges for an ID card,
look them up in your phonebook and give them a jingle, or do a Google
search for their website. Type in the state and DMV and you should
find the appropriate site.

Kriswrite

In Australia, the concept of a national identity card has been very
strongly fought against for years. It would not bother an honest
person, so there must be a lot out there with plenty to hide. Our
driver`s licenses do a similar job, as they now have to have a
photograph, but this does not cover those who do not drive. Credit and
debit cards do not have photo`s. And the civil liberty types are "
agin everything" , good and bad.
