Many of you may recall the cell phone tooth implant prototype that got quite a bit of publicity. However, that was almost two years ago. I'd like to know if any device using the technology is available now, and if so, what the cost may be. It doesn't have to be a cell phone specifically; I'm looking for a tooth implant which transmits audio through the jawbone. Thanks! |

This is the cell phone you are speaking of... http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2002june/gee20020624015096.htm Which is not really a cell phone at all, at the time, it was merely a concept. There are several hurdles that need to be overcome before implanted elctronics can really take off. Among them are minieturization, power sources, and radiation emmision. Unfortunatly, there is no tooth implant communication device currently available on the free market. There are a number of devices that do use jawbone conductivity for subvocal communication or to generate sounds. However they are all devices that function outside your body. keep your eyes open though... we will definatly see something like this soon. |
