I am seeking information about Zoltan Hirsch (1887-1944), a celebrated
Hungarian midget (dwarf) circus clown during the first half of the
twentieth century. Zoli, a Jew, (aka Zoli Bohoc, Kis Zoli, Little
Zoli, Rolly & Zoli, Gerard & Zoli, Fips) appeared in Hungarian silent
films and entertained with circus acts around the globe before being
murdered at Auschwitz. Any information you are able to discover about
his life and his death will be welcomed.

Dear Peter,

I found some information in Hungarian (an online bio and a possible
biography for same in Hugarian or Serbo-Croat). In addition, I found
one mentioning in an essay in German about the persecution of
small-people during the Nazi era.

I'm afraid, this is all I found online.

Thank you, but this information that is readily available online and
that I already have. I am looking for first-hand accounts, testimonies
and the like. In particular I am in need of specific information about
Zoli's incarceration, his life in the camps and the specific
circumstances of his death. Please let me know if you find anything of
this sort and I'll be prepared to pay for the info.

Did you already contact Yad Vashem or the Spielberg project?

I have contacted numerous agencies and resources. Among them:
1. Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.
2. United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC
(repository for the Survivors of the Shaoah, or Spielberg, Project)
3. The Wiesenthal Center in LA.

A few things have been learned and much is still pending with these
and other resources. If you are aware of other agencies to whom I
might turn, kindly pass on the information to me. Thank you.

Actually, it may or may not be Auschwitz, but it certainly is Zoli.

Thanks for the link, but this photo, along with all other information
available online via Google searching has already been obtained. I am
looking specifically for first hand testimony about the circumstances
surrounding Zoli's incarceration, his life in the camps and the
circumstances of his death. Please let me know if you are successful
in locating this sort of data and I will be pleased to pay the fee.

Dear Peter,

This month, a museum on the history of the Jewish community (and on
the Holocaust) has been opened in Budapest.

Maybe they have more information, or could connect you with survivors
who have seen him.
