what kind of software do compaq uses in the bios to display compaq at startup?

It is a low resolution picture, stored in the BIOS. There maybe hacks
out there to change it if that is what you want?

Press f10 or f12 when the computer is booting up it should give you
the name of the BIOS company.

The software used is the BIOS manufacturer's flash software & it is
loaded with custom BIOS settings for COMPAQ.

"Some systems incorporate what is called a "splash screen" in the
system BIOS. Some motherboard manufacturers (Intel for one) offer the
ability to customize these splash screens with a special utility they
