Hi All....
Is there a source or an online marketplace where I can find potential
buyers of crude oil around the world, especially outside North
America?
Note: I am trying to locate both government and non-government buyers.

All the best...

Here is something that I came across, but I don't know if it helps:
http://oildex.com/directory/dirFrameset.html

This is a directory of some 4000 petroleum-related companies around
the world. What I am trying to do is find an easier ways of contacting
buyers, rather than going one by one to these companies. There must be
a common marketplace that acts as one-stop source for buyers and
sellers.

Octopia,
What you found is a good lead. I on the other hand have found more
specific directories of oil companies in certain countries and
regions, and they tend to mix oil buyers with sellers and other types
of companies. The challenge here will be to sift out the buyers from
all the lists I've found. I wonder how many buyers would you require?
I hope you could hold on there too, this could take some time, as I
will be attending to some other things as well. Thanks again.

Hi Techtor,

Well, it would be great if I could find 10 good buyers, even less than
that would be sufficient if they seem to be serious. If it would help,
I am looking for people who are interested in the Gulf oil.

I can hold on for a bit, no prob.

In the meantime, here are some resources that I also found yesterday.
These are marketplaces but seem to have limited number of offers.

Hello again Octopia,
Been a while since I last checked in, but I think I'm on to something.
I found a website listing of oil buyers, and it lists 250 buyers. Not
all may be crude oil buyers, but I have seen that most items will say
if the company is a crude oil buyer. It lists not only US companies,
but companies from other countries as well. If you click on the name,
it will go to a page with the address and contact information of the
company. Would you find this already useful as an answer, or do you
need to pick some items out?

Aside from this other directories have been found too, those I mentioned before.

Yes,

That would be a very useful source, Techtor. I think this would be
good for an answer.

If it is not trouble, please post any additional sources that you
already came across relative to the subject.

Thanks,

Octopia?

Hello Octopia,
Thanks again for allowing me to post my answer, so here I give what I
promised. This first link I give you is the website with a list of
"buyers", as the Google search description that led to it indicates,
and though it is Indian, it lists companies from all over the world.

India Trade Zone - Foreign Buyers - Crude Oil
http://www.indiatradezone.com/search/browsemembers.asp?cid=1149251584&objtype=IF
- A list of Crude Oil Foreign Buyers. This is the first of many pages.

Aside from the above, I have collected this list of various sites
about buyers of oil around the world. I hope this list will help.

OILNERGY: crude oil buyers, crude oil purchasers

though this page only allows you to send a quotation. I got this from
the website below:

they are buyers or sellers.

Trade-Ranger: Buyers
http://www.trade-ranger.com/Community_of_Users/Buyers/
- Lists Solvay and Shell as buyers.
- "Solvay is an international chemical and pharmaceutical Group with
headquarters in Brussels. It employs more than 30,000 people in 50
countries. In 2002, its consolidated sales amounted to EUR 7.9 billion
generated by its four sectors of activity: Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals,
Plastics and Processing. Today the Group operates 400 facilities in 50
countries and about two thirds of the Group's earnings were derived
from speciality and pharmaceutical products in 2002. Solvay is listed
on the Euronext 100 index of top European companies."

Thanks a lot techtor. That was very helpfull.

By the way, most of these sites turned out to require a subscription
between $60 and $300+. Still they provided what I needed.

Here is another one that I am adding:

Octopia,
Thanks for the five-star rating and the tip! Oh yes, sorry I had not
informed you some of the sites had fees to pay. I am still glad though
that you were pleased with the results.
