Carlyle Group consists of what former US government officials?
I believe the Carlyle Group is privately held and once (or still)
included George H. W. Bush. What former public servants/officials are
in the CG now?

Dear grthumongous:

I began by reviewing the senior management team and identified the
following members with backgrounds as officials of the United States
Government.

"Senior Management" The Carlyle Group
http://www.thecarlylegroup.com/eng/team/l3-team1024.html

Frank C. Carlucci, Chairman Emeritus, former Secretary of Defense and
has held numerous other government positions.

David M. Rubenstein, Founder, former Deputy Domestic Policy Assistant
to the President of the United States.

James A. Baker , III, Senior Counselor, former Secretary of State,
Secretary of the Treasury, and White House Chief of Staff.

Richard G. Darman, Senior Adviser, former Director of the United
States Office of Management and Budget along with many other
government positions.

Arthur Levitt, Senior Adviser, former Chairman of the United States
Securities and Exchange Commission.

"Team" The Carlyle Group http://www.thecarlylegroup.com/eng/team/l3-team1022.html

I then reviewed the biographies of the rest of the team members. The
only other individual whose biography includes a role in United States
Government is listed below. There were also two naval officers.

Jonathan E. Colby, Managing Director, former Staff Assistant (Foreign
Affairs) on the National Security Council.

Sincerely,

Wonko

aloha Wonko,

I'm too late to add a tip. The "matrix" of nodes url was a graphic

I have not been able to find a comprehensive, current list for you,
but here's a partial list, from an article that was published in
"Fortune" in 2002:

"Are you the sort of person who believes in conspiracies--the
Trilateral Commission secretly runs the world, that sort of thing?
Well, then, here's a company for you. The Carlyle Group, a Washington,
D.C., buyout firm, is one of the nation's largest defense contractors.
It has billions of dollars at its disposal and employs a few important
people. Maybe you've heard of them: former Secretary of State Jim
Baker, former Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci, and former White
House budget director Dick Darman. Wait, we're just getting warmed up.
William Kennard, who recently headed the FCC, and Arthur Levitt, who
just left the SEC, also work for Carlyle. As do former British Prime
Minister John Major and former Philippines President Fidel Ramos.
Let's see, are we forgetting anyone? Oh, right, former President
George Herbert Walker Bush is on the payroll too."

(Former President George H. W. Bush resigned from the Carlyle Group in
the fall of 2003.)

Here is a fascinating look at some of the interrelationships:

Wonko's answer omits William Kennard, former Chairman of the U.S.
Federal Communications Commission. Kennard is listed as a current
member of the group:
