Hi! Thanks for the question.

This January 24 report has digital camera sales figures from 1999 to
2003. The report has figures for the US and for other countries as
well. It is presented in a neat table below the Digital Photography
Review website.

?PMA Data Watch has today released a report showing projected sales
figures of digital cameras for 2003. The volume of cameras sold was
projected to increase by 64 percent to 50 million units. Europe has
led this growth, roughly doubling its sales volume each year. In fact,
Europe overtook the Americas during 2003 as the world's largest market
for digital cameras, accounting for 36 percent of units sold. Growth
in the Americas has been strong nonetheless, rising by 48 percent in
2003, while digital camera sales increased by 34 percent in Japan.?

The same website also reports a forecast that by 2004, 53 million
digital cameras will be sold while 2008 sales could go as high as 82
million.

?According to a study by the research group InfoTrends worldwide
digital camera sales should reach nearly 53 million units sold in
2004. In addition to this digital camera sales are expected to
continue to grow and a compound rate of 15% over the following four
years reaching an incredible 82 million units sold in 2008. According
to InfoTrends the market leaders in 2003 are expected to be Canon,
Sony, Olympus, Fujifilm and Kodak with a combined market share of
three quarters (75%).?
