Fleetman,
Using the reverse DNS service at http://remote.12dt.com/rns/ gives us
the following results for the IP addresses you mention:
209.240.0.24 noc.1st.net
209.240.0.24 1st.net
209.240.19.17 FUSA-du-240-19-17.dial.1st.net
Assuming that you pulled these out of the header of an unwanted email,
they probably indicate that the message came from a subscriber of the
Ohio Valley Internet provider First USA Inc. on a dial-up line, and
then passed through two servers at the provider on its way to you.
The subscriper's IP address is very likely to be dynamically assigned.
The reverse resolution of this address (209.240.19.17) indicates that
it is in the dial-up pool at First USA. The "FUSA" in the name
probably means (F)irst (USA), the "du" probably means "dial-up", as
does the "dial" in the remainder of the name.
I cannot find an acceptable use policy (AUP) or an end-user agreement
(EUA) on the First USA web site at http://www.1st.net/ but they do
have a contact email for abuse. It is: Abuse@1st.net
If you are unhappy about the email, I suggest that you forward the
email with a note of complaint to the address given. Make sure you
include ALL of the headers (even the ugly ones) so that First USA can
search their logs to find out what customer was using that particular
IP address at the time the message was sent.
Best Regards,
