Hi 1234-ga,

I was a little on the wrong track at the start of my search, as what
you described happened in Pakistan (instead of Afghanistan). However,
I managed to find several articles about the "Zahida Perveen" case and
the related "honor killings" cases (acts of murder/mutilation in which
a woman is killed or mutilates for her actual or perceived immoral
behavior):

An extract:

"Zahida Perveen's eyes are empty sockets of unseeing flesh, her
earlobes have been sliced off, and her nose is a gaping, reddened
stump of bone. She is one of thousands of Pakistani women who are
maimed every year by men who believe their wives or daughters have
brought dishonor to the family."

to avoid paying for the same question twice.
