In 1980 upon returning from overseas I had the opportunity to stay in
NYC. That night, one of the superstations of the day broadcast a movie
that I have been trying to find the title to for 20+ years.
Premise: Opening scene - Car wreck in the mid 1920-30's and someone
saying "is he OK?" Now, go back to the old west. We find a Father, Son,
and the Son's future wife. Father has found out how to "catch" DEATH!
He makes DEATH think someone is about to die. Then, he catches DEATH
and the person can live forever. It works for him. However, his future
daughter in law accidently dies before they catch DEATH. In grief the
son acts like he is going to catch DEATH but rigs it so he will
actually die.
At the end of the movie the father walks away from the aforementioned
wreck (many years in the future).....he still cannot die.
I would put the movie in the mid 50's based only on the fact it was
black and white.
Also, if you know if this movie is shown on any superstations
occasionally or if it is available on video.

Dear kaiserwilhelm:

Thanks for the question, but I was unable to sufficiently narrow my
search with the information given. Is there any additional information
you can provide me with? Such as recognizable actors, additional plot
points, locations, specific lines in the movie?

Best Regards,
blader-ga

I THINK the title has something to do with the name of a Greek God?
Monster? Something like that. Actors - Not a clue!
Go with the Greek thing. I think that can help narrow it down. I THINK
I found it in a movie database at a bookstore one time. If I recall
correctly it was a Green name for the "DEATH" character.
