I live in the UK and (without having to make a personal visit) I would
let to get hold of a copy of a document that's in the National
Archives, Washington.

I've got all the references.

Is there an on-line facility?

Or, maybe an agency who could oblige?

And, if so, any idea on costs?

Many thanks

Bryan

Hi Bryan!

If you got all the necessary references for this document then the
National Archives website can be of great help to you. You can order
documents depending on the various types housed in the NARA
repository.

Microfilm Documents
"For Microfilm: Microfilm copies of rolls of microfilm publications
may be purchased at $34 per roll (including shipping) for U.S. orders
($39 for foreign orders)."
"Exception: The color microfilm publication M1930, Enumeration
District Maps for the Fifteenth Census of the United States (1930)
(including shipping) is $51 for U.S. orders ($56 for foreign orders).
For Microfiche: $4.75 per sheet."

(Order Instructions)

---------------------
Textual Records
"To order copies of documents identified through on-site research,
through ARC searches, or through use of other descriptive resources,
please indicate as much of the following information as possible:
Control Number (in the case of ARC descriptions), Record Group Number,
Creating Organization, Series Title, Box Number (if any), Folder Title
(if any), Document Title (if any), and any other information that
identifies dates, a government office, a subseries title, or a writer
or contributor. In the case of ARC references, you are most likely to
obtain the best search results if you can cut, paste, and/or print all
of the information provided on the ARC descriptive page for the
document and/or series."

"The National Archives and Records Administration provides copies of
records for a fee. The current fees for the most common types of
reproductions are:"

"Paper copies: $0.50 cents per copy (up to and including 11 inch by 17
inch copies)."
"Paper copies (self service in research rooms): $0.15 per page"
"Microfilm copies (35mm): $0.70 per image."

------------------------
If you want to order other types of documents besides the ones I
mentioned above, then you can go to this page. It seems that the
records for military pensions are the only ones available for
immediate online ordering. The rest, you must post a request via email
or snail mail.

"To Obtain Reproductions"

-----------------------
In terms of mailing fees, here are the prices that will be of most interest to you.

"(a) There is a minimum fee of $10.00 per order for reproductions that
are sent by mail to the customer."

"(b) Orders to addresses in the United States are sent either first
class or UPS depending on the weight of the order and availability of
UPS service. When a customer requests special mailing services (such
as Express Mail or registered mail) and/or shipment to a foreign
address, the cost of the special service and/or additional postage for
foreign mail is added to the cost of the reproductions."

"Form of payment. Fees may be paid in cash, by check or money order
made payable to the National Archives Trust Fund, or by selected
credit cards. Payments from outside the United States must be made by
international money order payable in U.S. dollars or a check drawn on
a U.S. bank."

Hi, Again, Easterangel

Looks highly promising. Many thanks.

I'll give it a bash later & let you know.

I was wondering, now that Easter is behind us, are you still an Angel?

Warmest regards

Bryan

Hi Bryan!

I try to be an angel whether it is Easter or not. But it's pretty
hard... well it's really hard. :)

Well, I've made contact ... All thanks to you.

But still no news from the Ark.

Still, you have done everything I asked.

I only wished that you'd gone to Washington, though. After all, if you
really are an Angel then it should have only been a quick trip.

Warmest regards

Bryan

Yeah Bryan I wished. But angel miles are really getting harder to earn
these days. :)

Thanks!
