When I search on a particular company name of "Vormetric" Google returns the correct results. But, right above the results is this question: "Did you mean: volumetric". My question is: How do I get Google to recognize that Vormetric is a valid word and to not ask the "misspelling question"? That is, how do I get Google to add the word "Vormetric" to their internal dictionary? thanks, dave |

Um, it's not a real word and when I tried it at Merriam-Webster, it also suggested volumetric. |

"Google's spell check is based on occurrences of all words on the Internet." ://www.google.com/help/features.html#spell Google will automatically add "Vormetric" to its internal dictionary if enough people use it on webpages relative to the term "volumetric". It's unlikely they will manually do it but you can contact them and try. |

I understand that it is not a "real" word. But, one can always add words to a dictionary (e.g., in MS Word) so that the spell checker does not flagged it as misspelled. For example, IBM is not a "real" word, but Google does not offer suggestions when you search on it. My client is upset that Google thinks their company name is a misspelled word. So, back to my question. How do I get Google to add Vormetric to their dictionary? |

Because of the Japanese penchant for confusing "R" with "L" (and vice versa), this company's word is a prime candidate as a mistaken variation of "volumetric". Volumetric shows up over 500,000 times in Google, compared to only about 3,000 for Vormetric, so unfortunately I think that Google will continue to believe for the time being that people searching for Vormetric are more likely to actually be searching for Volumetric. Until Google changes their policy, I'm afraid there's no way to get around this. |

Well, after reading all that ... I think you will have more success if you work on your client's mind and try to change his perspective rather than trying to make Google change its mind. :) |
