Dear kenneth9: ""We need double-digit growth in all population groups to meet the national workforce needs, but when we analyze the number, there are no major fluctuations to be found. There's no drama," says Slaughter. "With 64.189 graduates, the engineering class of 2001 is only about two percent larger than the previously year. On the minority front there is more bad news than good. The good news is that, for the third year, more African American males are earning engineering degrees. This is the only minority population, however, experiencing an increase." So according to this article: http://www.black-collegian.com/news/nodrama202.shtml, there were 64,189 total. I doubt anyone will be able to find a break down by college and state in a single list, though. Best Regards, blader-ga |

Dear Kenneth9 ,
Though this data is not of 2000-2001 , if the data required is for
some statistical analysis then the following two sets of data might
be of some indication as to the trend .

SECOND SET :-
Also interesting data is as follows :-
The data for this study come from the U.S. Department of Education. It
is collected through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data
System program completers survey conducted by the NCES. The survey
requests data from each higher education campus on the number of
degrees and other formal awards conferred in academic, vocational and
continuing professional education programs. Institutions report their
data according to the Classification of Instructional Program (CIP)
codes developed by the NCES. CIP codes provide a common set of
categories allowing comparisons across all colleges and universities.

Kenneth, Blader-ga found an excellent link but gave you the wrong number. From the article "No Drama Found In 2001 Engineering Graduation Numbers: NACME Calls For Redoubling Of Efforts" at http://www.black-collegian.com/news/nodrama202.shtml "Fewer minority engineering graduates In 2000 a record 6,710 African Americans, American Indians and Latinos received engineering bachelor's degrees, representing nearly 11 percent of the class. Last year, that number slid to 6,603, and 10.3 percent. Latinos fell from 3,213 to 3,146, and American Indians from 347 to 215. The number of African American females went from 1,113 to 1,098, while African American males rose from 2,037 to 2,084." |
