I sent funds to an inmate through 1800 inmates.com Although I recieved
a confirmation number and my credit card was charged, the inmate never
recieved said funds. While trying to locate them both by telephone and
through e mails they failed to answer. Are they still operating? what
can I do?
Thank you

Hi

This is as much as I know. I was contracted by 1800inmates last year
to do some publicity work for them; and did not received payment for
half of the work I completed, even though I see it's now in public
circulation. (That's how I found this site: I was interested in
finding out if there was any more information about 1800inmates on the
Web than the stuff I found last year when I was trying to track the
owner down for payment.) Last year, when I tried to contact the owner
to follow up on why I hadn't been paid, he shut down his email
address, and no attempts by the mediating company I worked through
elicited a response from him. He then started up again under a very
similar email address, and was subsequently barred by the mediating
company when they found out it was the same person. Maybe both our
experiences are merely coincidental. Maybe not. I leave you to draw
your own conclusions; and I hope you manage to get your money back.
