Question ID: 331786
I keep getting a pop up screen saying:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error
Program:c\\windows\system32\njhftwon.exe
Abnormal program termination"

I can't find out what this file is and even the Microsoft website does
not show this in their search mode. I do have Norton and this is not a
virus.

The "njhftwon" file does show up in my computer, but I do not want to
delete it not knowing what it is.

Can you help?

Hi almaxwell,

First, use HouseCall to run a virus scan (it's very thorough and takes awhile):
HouseCall:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Then, download and run at least one of these programs (be sure to update it first):

CW Shredder:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/coolwebshredder.html

Adaware:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/adaware.html

SpyBot:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/spybot.html

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Then download ( & update) and run HijackThis:

HijackThis:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

Post your HijackThis log on the following forum - they will tell you
if you need to delete anything:
Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support:

Please let us know how that goes -
Thanks,
hummer

almaxwell...

In addition to hummer-ga's suggestions, you
can do the following:

Right-click the file (do NOT left-click on it!)
and select Properties. If it's not a DOS file,
the resulting window will show 4 tabs, the second
of which is Version. By selecting the items in the
'item name' window, you may be able to see the
company name or the program name with which it is
associated.

Whether it is a DOS program of a Windows program,
it may help us to know the location of the file,
as in C:\WINNT\pss, e.g.
