Please look this up as a name--of a person or city. Possibly Mesopotamian.
This is the exact spelling: Aheos. Forget acronyms. Thanks, Lisa

Dear girlie-ga:

Thank you for your question! I'm fairly confident that you are looking
for "Achaios," which is a Greek word pronounced exactly "Aheos."

There were 0 RELEVANT results upon a regular Google Search (which is
amazing!). However, according to a newsgroup posting:

"Xouthos and Kreoussa, daughter of Erechtheus (king of Athens) had
sons Ion and Achaios (pronounced Aheos)"

Source: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Aheos&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF8&safe=off&selm=337D0390.7E1%40erols.com&rnum=9

This is pretty much is only relevant result I was able to find on
"Aheos." According to the Republic of Turkey, Minister of Culture is
also the uncle of the King of Syria in antiquity, and the nephew of
Seleukos Soter III.

"The people of Pednelissos appealed to Achaios, uncle of Antiochos
III, king of Syria, for help, and he gave the task of lifting the
siege to Garsyeris, one of his generals."

Dear girlie-ga:

Doh! The sentence that says "According to the Republic of Turkey,
Minister of Culture is" SHOULD read "According to the Republic of
Turkey, Ministry of Culture, Atheos is"

Sorry about that. I need more sleep. Or more coffee. =)

Best Regards,
blader-ga

Hi Blader-ga,
Your answer makes sense in that I too could not find "Aheos" anywhere.
Good thing you know your Greek. I'm basically satisfied with the
answer but, as I said in my question, "Aheos" was the exact spelling I
received. If you have any more thoughts, great, otherwise thanks.

Dear girlie-ga:

Thank you for clarification request. I believe that "Aheos" would be
the "exact spelling" of the Greek word Achaios in English, much in the
same way as other Greek words are spelled differently in Greek than we
spell them in English. As "Aheos" is the direct phonetic
pronounciation of Achaios, and since "Achaios" is the only reference
to the word "Aheos" I could find anywhere on the internet, I'm pretty
confident that Achaios is the person you're looking for.

If you need any further clarifications, please don't hesitate to ask.
=)

I am sorry to be pedantic but did the ministry of culture in turkey
sent you a reply about ACHAIOS (Aheos) or Atheos? It only because in
your two clarifications you mention Atheos, which is Greek for
Infidel, unbeliever or in a direct translation "He who has no God",
Atheist (that's better)...

Achaios yes is a name attributed to a person and after that to a Tribe
of Greeks being the discontents of that person called Achaioi (in
plural). The same fashion with Danaoi (Danae), Iones (Ionians), and
Ellhnes (Hellin).

Cheers
