Hello ehohnecker,

Thank you for your question.

I thought it odd to find the answer at Sleep and Health, but an
article there states:
http://www.sleepandhealth.com/Newspaper/2003/August/11.htm

"Pablo Picasso
By: Deena Sherman

Le Repos, or The Rest, painted by Pablo Picasso in 1932, depicts a
woman sleeping peacefully on her arms. The painting contains zones of
colors with deep curved outlines. In one hand, there is a soft object
or possibly it is an extension of her hand, making the limb almost
tendril like.

The moon-faced woman in this painting is in fact Marie Therese Walter,
one of Picasso's first mistresses. She is the subject of many of
Picasso's works including slight variations of this one, also called
Le Repos. One of the variations, not as beautiful as this one, was
auctioned for $7.3 million. Another particularly famous Picasso work,
which depicts Marie Therese, is the erotic "The Dream" where part of
her head contains a hidden phallus in addition to several other hidden
phalluses in the portrait..."
