My Linksys router keeps needing a physical reset

I have Linksys BEFW11S4 router. It seems like I have to reset it
almost everyday, or at least every other day. By reset I mean power
cycle.

i updated it with the latest firmware, and it has the new web UI that
linksys now has (since they were acquired by Cisco, I guess) .

It has done this since I bought it 4 months ago. I bought it to
replace an older Linksys unit that needed resetting several times a
day.

I have tried a hard reset, and then reprogramming the unit with my
port forwarding stuff, but no change.

Any ideas?

thanx in advnce

Hi sherpaj-ga:

You may actually want to consider downgrading the firmware to version
1.45.7, which according to many users of that router is the least
troublesome of the releases since last September. As well, there's a
rather convoluted procedure you may wish to try, described on this
page at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005ARK3/qid%3D1081203248/sr%3D2-2/ref%3Dsr%5F2%5F2/102-0233400-9379335

(scroll down to the post by "CEM INALMAN from Fort Lee USA")

Give it a try, and let me know if it helps. Remember to back up your
configuration settings first! And try to have someone around to help
you with this procedure... the author mentions needing a third hand...

Since we do not know for sure if it will actually solve the problem,
why don't we just leave this question as is; if you get the chance to
try this before the question expires on May 18th, 2004, and can verify
that it has solved your problem, then I would be glad to post it as
the Answer. I just wouldn't feel right claiming the list price before
we find out if it is the actual source/cause of the problem.
