Can't eject CD tray after upgrading to Panther (MacOS)

After upgrading to panther on a g4 800 mgz/1gb ram I had constant app
crashes and finder crashes. I was unable to get my main user account
to work but set up a new admin user and moved many prefs over and it
seems to be fine.

One problem I noticed is that the 4 buttons above numeric keypad on my
extended "pro" keyboard (sound up/down/mute and the media eject key)
don't work. I can get the cd tray to eject using toast, however. The
numbers work and the 'enter' key works. The 'home/help' 6 buttons work
fine too.

thankx in advnce

By any chance does this situation apply to you?:

If so, then your problem may be fixed with the OS X 10.3.3 Update:

Please advise if the information on the first page applies to you, and
whether you have already applied the OS X 10.3.3 Update on your Mac.

Thankfully, this question does not involve any Microsoft licensing
problems whatsoever! :)

Based on the problem description you provided, it appeared that the
problem was related to the built-in keyboard support (I hesitate to
say driver, since it is integral to the operating system) in Mac OS X.

A search in the Apple Support database on the words "volume eject OS
X" led straight to the first article I linked you to above:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25634

The important part of the article, to me, was the implication that the
OS X 10.3.3 Update contains fixes that affect the special keys on the
keyboard, and therefore could be a potential solution to your problem.

I'm glad that it worked out for you!
