A long shot, but when you right click on Hotsync Manager, is Local USB
ticked? You can only click one and not more, I believe.

What happens when you try?

Does the Palm try to sync and the PC doesn't respond? Can you
initiate a sybc by pressing the button on the cradle?

Did you (hard or soft) reset the Palm? Did you reinstall the HotSync
software? Did you check the options in the conduit to ensure it is not
set to "Do Nothing"? And lastly, did you install any intellisync
software, such as the software offered by Yahoo?

And, does the Palm charge while in the cradle?

In answer to SQUEAMISH:
-yES, I reinstalled the Palm softwar.
-I did the soft reset, but am afraid to use the hard reset. If it
fails, then I have lost everything in my Palm
-It is not set on"do nothing"
-Yes, Palm charges while in cradle
-No, I did not install any new software
