I need to populate the fields in a pdf file located on a unix web
server through a php app.

My goal is to have a web form where individuals can enter their
information into php fields (registration form). When they complete
the form and click submit the information in the respective fields get
entered into fields on pdf file. The pdf file should not be one that
they have to download, locate and open but one that automatically
opens at the end of the registration process.

I can get the php form to gather the information but I am having
trouble compiling the FDF toolkit on the server and then linking the
info.

Does anyone know how to:

1. Install the FDF toolkit and get past the compiling errors?
2. How do I combine the information from the php form and the pdf file?

Thanks for your help

FYI - If it is smarter to use different languages let me know. (i.e.
better to use asp rather then php) I would prefer to use php.

This looks like a decent article on creating PDF documents via PHP & MySQL.

I tried compiling the FDF toolkit a couple years ago, it was a bloody
joke! I think I worked on it for about 5 hours to no avail.
