Edgarindustrial --

Most of the old-line parts distributors have adapted their print
catalog format and made it available via PDF files online. Some have
added search by category:

Newark Electronics
http://www.newark.com/

Lawson Products
http://webapp1.lawsonproducts.com/website/showLevel1

United Tool & Fastener -- this is an HTML interface to suppliers data
sheets for the most part. A clean design but some of the sub-pages
aren't coming up for me:
http://www.unitedtoolandfastener.com/

Anixter Brothers
http://onlinecatalog.anixter.com/PartSearchServlet

Among the electronics distributors Avnet has one of the
most-sophisticated interfaces, allowing either free text or category
search. On the following page, click on "Component Part Search" in
the upper right-hand part of the screen:
http://www.avnet.com/

Allied Electronics
http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/indices/indices.asp

Grainger
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/start.shtml

Brammer-Standard Industrial Materials -- this one includes technical
specs in the PDF document:
http://www.brammerstandard.com/pdf/industrial.pdf

Madeira USA -- which has a variety of catalogs based on user types:
http://www.madeirausa.com/cat.html

Google search strategy:
I first tried some of the leading parts distribution companies,
including Newark, Allied, Lawson, Anixter and Grainger. Then expanded
the list with:
"online catalog" + electronics
"online catalog" + industrial
