Hello, Just had a power outtage, and when computer rebooted, the Inbox is now empty. All other folders are ok, just the Inbox. Did a search for Inbox.dbx and two show up: Inbox.dbx with a few Kb, and Inbox(1).dbx with 12 MB which I assume is my original. How can I get back the messages? I tried "importing" it but couldn't get it to work. OS: Win2k OE 6 Thank you. Ed |

esarkissian-ga: Outlook Express can be quite annoying when it isn't cooperating, huh? And yet, I personally use it anyway, because when it works, it works well. You are really just a simple steps away from your solution. Finding the Inbox.dbx file location is usually the hard part for most people. Now that you have found it, simply do the following: 1. Shut down Outlook Express 2. Rename Inbox.dbx to Inbox.notneeded 3. Copy Inbox(1).dbx to Inbox.backup 4. Rename Inbox(1).dbx to Inbox.dbx 5. Start Outlook Express In 99% of cases, this will give you back the contents of your Inbox. If it doesn't, please let me know (using the Request Clarification button above) and I will talk you through some other procedures that should help. Regards, aht-ga Google Answers Researcher |
