I am curious how to license intellectual property from a film or TV
program for use on physical goods, like t-shirts or coffee mugs. My
goal is make vintage-looking t-shirts (and other products) with
fictional companies used in film or on TV programs.
For example, one product would be a shirt that says ?McMann and Tate
-- 1966 Employee Appreciation Day?. ?McMann and Tate? is the fictional
advertising firm that Darren Stevens worked at on the show ?Bewitched?
and I am fairly sure I would need approval from Sony Pictures (the
company who owns the rights to Bewitched) to sell the shirt. Of
course, I could be mistaken since ?Bewitched? isn?t specifically
mentioned, but the company was often mentioned on the show.
How do I go about obtaining a license to use these fictional companies
from various studios like Universal, Viacom (CBS/Nickelodeon/Paramount
Pictures), Disney (Touchstone/Buena Vista), Time Warner (Warner
Brothers/New Line), MGM, or Sony (Columbia/Tristar)?
Thanks in advance! |
