Scientists recently announced that they were able to synthesize the
entire genome of Polio virus. When this synthetic genome was
introduced into cells, infectious viral particles were made by the
cells.
(a) How can the spread of biological weapons be controlled with this
information in mind?
(b) What regulations should placed upon institutes studying viral and
bacterial particals such as the CDC or USMRIID, without disrupting
scientific advancement?
