Hi cheese126,

Here you go - the Waanders hardcover and paperback editions are
available from the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti exhibition catalogue:
"Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) is surrounded by an aura of
mystery. In his own lifetime the artist?s paintings were acquired
almost exclusively by private collectors. As a result, most people
only knew his work from hearsay. All kinds of stories circulated
concerning his life and loves. Rossetti was a member of the
Pre-Raphaelite movement, a group of artists who proposed to return to
the medieval tradition that preceded Raphael. The catalogue surveys
Rossetti?s interpretation of this ideal: his portraits of women.
Treuherz, Prettejohn and Becker have attempted to do justice to
Rossetti?s work without allowing themselves to be distracted by the
myths that formed around him. Van Gogh Museum, Waanders, Zwolle, The
Walker, Liverpool, 2003. Full colour.

Exhibition
Dante Gabriel Rossetti
"From 1860 Rossetti began to paint his characteristic female figures,
inspired by Italian Renaissance portraits. These generally symbolic
representations of legendary women, such as Helen of Troy and Pandora,
display strong similarities in their poses, use of vivid colours and
many attributes that accompany these charming ladies. The harmonious
effect achieved by Rosetti is reinforced by the fact that a great many
of his canvases are still in their original frames, which were also
designed by the artist.
Dante Gabriel Rossetti has been organised in cooperation with the
Walker, National Museums Liverpool, where the exhibition was displayed
from October 2003 to January 2004. The exhibition has been compiled by
Julian Treuherz, chief curator of the Walker, Edwin Becker of the Van
Gogh Museum and Elizabeth Prettejohn, professor of modern art at the
University of Plymouth and an expert in the field of Victorian art."
