Hello....

Please help me....

When I went to read my mail this morning my monitor did not come on.
I then turned the computer & monitor off ( I usually leave my computer
on and just disconnect from the internet when not in use )Still
nothing..................

None of the usual sounds that one hears when rebooting a computer and
a black screen on the monitor.....I checked all my connections and my
modem and I can't find anything amiss....

I do know that in the past few months the monitor would dim at
times... Its not that old....got it in January 2001. I do have a
screensaver that comes on after 10 minutes of idle time...

I have Windows 2000 Pro and connect thru DSL....

HELP PLEASE...................

Hi Steph,

Is the power on? Perhaps you forgot to turn on the power supply.

Did you check the monitor if the switch is on? Please check the
monitor's power cable and monitor cable.

"None of the usual sounds that one hears when rebooting a computer and
a black screen on the monitor."

It's likely that something became loose inside your PC. This is known
as "chip creep". You may need to open your unit and make sure that the
peripheral cards and connection cables inside are seated securely in
place. Please tell us the result after you check the things I
mentioned.

Hi feilong....

Thanks for your response but when I came home tonight I tried
re-booting again and on the third try everything works again...
My IT analyst at work suggested that I manually turn off the monitor
when I leave the computer for long periods.
Anyways, as everything seems to be working again, I'm going to close this question.

Thanks again and take care....
