I am not looking for the artist of the theme song. There was a band
that came to the hospital where their band mate was a patient. I have
heard the song before, but cannot place it.

Hello Winsorams,

The Polyphonic Spree was the band that appeared on the April 20, 2004
episode of Scrubs.

Below I will provide you with references where you may verify that
this is the correct answer.

Episode 19 - My Choosiest Choice of All
April 20, 2004
Music Group The Polyphonic Spree Makes a Cameo Appearance

?Dr. Cox and Dr. Miller continue their general dislike of each other.
They clash on how to treat their mutual patient, musician Jeff
Stockton.?

?As a peacemaking gesture, he gets a release form that will allow
Jeff's band to visit him in the hospital since he can't leave the
hospital to see them. 20+ band members come in, one by one, with their
instruments.

?The album's "Light and Day" has a new video courtesy of director
Michael Gondrey ("He's just an amazing guy," DeLaughter says, "I can
watch his stuff for hours"), who also included the track in his new
film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The Spree will also sing
the tune on an April 20th appearance on the NBC sitcom Scrubs, in
which a member of the group is treated at the show's fictional Sacred
Heart hospital. "We loved the image of the myriad band members filling
into a tiny hospital room to visit and perform with one of their
post-operative, bed-ridden members," supervising producer Neil Goldman
said. "The shoot was fantastic and when they performed, the band's
exuberance was truly infectious. Lots of crew members said the music
just made them 'feel happy.'"

?The Polyphonic Spree will perform "Light & Day" during their
appearance on the April 20 episode of the hit NBC-TV sitcom "Scrubs."
"We're all huge music fans on 'Scrubs' and are always looking for
interesting, organic ways to incorporate music into the show," says
"Scrubs" supervising producer Neil Goldman. "When a bunch of us got a
chance to experience The Polyphonic Spree live, we immediately sparked
to the idea of not only featuring their music, but the band itself.
We're a show that loves to push the envelope creatively, and obviously
so does the group, so it seemed like a perfect match for us.?

?In the meantime, the last album's "Light & Day" continues to garner
exposure. The Spree will perform the track April 20 on the NBC sitcom
"Scrubs" in an episode that revolves around a sick member of the band,
and the following day on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

?It's hard to imagine "Light & Day/ Reach for the Sun" or any of the
14 tracks on The Beginning Stages Of ... achieving radio success.
Which may explain why the troupe hopes to nurture its growing fanbase
with an appearance on the NBC sitcom "Scrubs."
