Hi Reggaeman, Unfortunately there is no known cure for dysphonia (it sounds, by the way, like you have abductor spasmodic dysphonia, one of the three types). The standard treatments to lessen symptoms are botox and voice therapy. Here is some information on dysphonia that I found using the MedlinePlus directory from the National Library of Medicine (www.medlineplus.gov) National Institute on Deafness & Other Communication Disorders: Spasmodic Dysphonia http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/voice/spasdysp.asp A quick, consumer-oriented guide to the basics of spasmodic dysphonia. National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association http://www.dysphonia.org/nsda/ This site has a lot of great info, including an overview of different treatment regimes (drugs, surgery, complementary therapies) and some good info on diagnosis, causes, etc. I hope these links may be of help to you. Your dysphonia is a known medical condition, so you should feel free to take it up with your doctor. You may find that the voice therapies work well for you - or may choose to go with surgery or the botox treatment. Good luck! Librariankt |
