Hello xhabbo: Well the USA really consumes a lot of beer. Light beer leads the way. In 2000, light beer accounted for 44% of all the malt beverages consumed in the United States. From: http://www.realbeer.com/news/articles/news-001597.html Here are the top ten light beers from adage.com. Looks like Bud Light is on top. Total light beer sales in 2000: 87 million barrels or 2,697,000,000 gallons. 2000 market share light beer in percent 1 Bud Light 36.8 2 Coors Light 19.1 3 Miller Lite 18.5 4 Natural Light 9.2 5 Busch Light 6.1 6 Michelob Light 3.3 7 Keystone Light 2.6 8 Millwaukees Best Light 2.3 9 Old Milwaukee Light 0.8 10 Miller Genuine Draft Light 0.7 Total top 10 99.4 from: http://www.adage.com/page.cms?pageId=689 These figures below are for all beer (light/regular) Anheuser Busch 49.0 Miller Brewing 20.9 Coors 10.8 Stroh's 6.8 S & P Industries 2.3 Genessee 0.8 Boston Beer 0.7 Other 8.7 These are 1999 figures from: http://www.activemedia-guide.com/beer_mrk.htm Some other interesting links that are related. An interesting study done by AC Neilson said: New York, 5 June 2002 - Three of the five fastest growing Food and Beverage categories in the global marketplace were beverages in 2001, led overwhelmingly by Prepared Alcoholic Beverages. http://www.acnielsen.com/news/corp/2002/20020605.htm The Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) also keeps monthly a tally: http://www.atf.treas.gov/alcohol/stats/01stats/beer_sep01.pdf http://216.239.37.100/search?q=cache:OKIIOKAxXQ8C:www.dted.state.mn.us/PDFs/beer.pdf+beer+%22market+share%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 I hope this helps.
