My CD rom drive always shows data discs as audio discs when placed in
the drive, and one audio track shows up, (which isn't actually there).
This track can't be deleted. Only audio discs can be used. I'm
assuming, (maybe wrongly), this is a software issue. I'm running
Windows ME. Can somebody please help?

What is your drive speed? This type of problem is typical for drives below 52X.

I'm not sure exactly what the drive speed is, but I purchased the PC
about 2 years or so ago. It certainly is less than 52x.

Have you tried using a CD drive cleaner? Are the data discs you are
reading recorded on bluish or greenish (see the underside opposite the
CD label) recordable CDs? Do you experience this problem when reading
data discs recorded in original silver discs?

If possible, please tell us the specs of your system. Thank you.
