Hello wrznet-ga:
The following is a list of American and offshore banks that allow
quick setup of accounts and wire transfers.
Be aware that U.S. banks, in accordance with the 2001 Patriot Act 's
"International Money Laundering Abatement and Anti-Terrorist Financing
Act of 2001,"which "makes it more difficult for terrorists and other
criminals to use the country's financial system for illicit purposes,
the law requires financial institutions to establish procedures to
obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who
opens an account. . . . ."
From the Massachusetts's Division of Banks:

Therefore, when you open an account with U.S.-based banks, you must
provide your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
In a few cases you may also be asked to fax in your Social Security
card or driver's license, etc.
