We have several theatre buffs among the researchers here and I'm sure
one of them can give you a very thoughtful answer.

For their benefit, I just want to clarify: do you mean ideology as in
political ideology?

(And here I'd always thought it pertained only to politics!) 

It's been eons since I saw this beautiful play, but I recall it as
being heavy on *symbolism*.

I think it would help researchers a lot if you would explain just what
you mean by "ideology."
