A Researcher slipped up recently, by inadvertently revealing the REAL NAME of a Questioner. Worse, the Questioner was a 5-Star Celebrity: Dorothy Parker, no less. The one who kick started the Vicious Circle. Not the sort of woman to tangle with, I would have thought. Anyhow, DP is evidently a member of the GA-laxy. But what?s her handle? The only clues are: 1: She is a woman; 2: Pinkfreud has evidently answered (at least) one of her questions. The ?Usual Suspects? include: apteryx-ga, badabing-ga, steph53-ga, stressedmum-ga, yesmam-ga, and birdie. ?Why birdie?? you may well ask. Well, she is the only Questioner (as far as know) who has ever appeared ga-less. Don?t ask me why, but that is precisely the sort of eccentricity that we might expect from DP. Over to you ? Sorry, but apparently you'll have to copy and paste that URL into your browser. I seem to have circumstantially discovered another limit in GA: the number of letters which can be displayed horizontally on a page. Ah, Bryan... I see I am not the only one to burn the midnight oil. As to the Chardonnay, I have become quite enamored of Michel Picard's (no relation that I know of to the Captain) offerings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay. O, Sublime One I burn not the Midnight Oil. Here in Hove (like the rest of the UK) it is already 9 a.m. I've never understood why other countries insist on doing their own thing time-wise. Hi, Rocky (aka Bathrocks) I cannot let you of all people remain in the dark. I am trying to discover the handle used by Dorothy Parker, after nancylynn-ga (in a Comment on #332064) had inadverently revealed that Pinkfreud had answered one or more of her questions. For obvious reasons, I have had to be VERY DISCREET and, indeed, some folk might say, rather cryptic. You probably won't remember a singer of yesteryear by the name of Frank Sinatra who sang a song called 'Nancy' whose lyrics were penned by Phil Silvers aka Sergeant Bilko, the eponymous character of a TV series that is still shown regularly on British screens. Right? After considerable investigation, suspicion has now fallen on Birdie who asked 'Why is the Sky Blue', which was evidently the first question ever asked on GA even though it carries the # 2. Birdie is a very mysterious person because he/she did not have the standard GA suffix to his/her handle; he/she did not rate the Answer; etc. Sublime1, who has been hot on the trail, has produced some amazing research on Birdie, which he has entered as a Comment to the Question. Dorothy Parker is well known for her versifications so, inevitably, attention has focused on those with comparable skills. And, not unnaturally, it has extended also to those (such as yourself) with even greater skills. Please, if you are Dorothy Parker, now is a good time and this is a good place to confess. Alternatively, if you can throw any light on the matter, you might even be invited to join the same Vicious Circle that hovers around the said Dorothy. All the Best Bryan |
