I cannot reach the gmail.google.com website from any of my computers
at home. I get an "operation timed out" from Firefox browser and a
"page cannot be displayed" from Internet Explorer.
I can reach gmail from work. All I can think of is a Firewall issue
with my Linksys router at home. Agree? Is there a setting to change?
Or is it another issue?
It wouldn't be my disabling of Windows Messenger, would it? I used a
tool from grc.com to disable messenger. |

Howdy scoobydue-ga,
Probably not the problem since you posted your question above, but are you
having any problems getting to secure pages? Try going to the following
page and make sure that's not the problem. Thanks!

The secure site worked OK.
Here is a traceroute... maybe gmail is not running. But I swear it
works from the office. I will check the office again today:

It does Ping however (cut/pasted):

Round trip time to 216.239.57.107: 79 ms
Average time over 10 pings: 73.5 ms
I don't know the significance, if any, that a traceroute times out,
and a ping works.

Howdy scoobydue-ga,
The trace and ping look OK to me. From another source.

drip-ga has a good suggestion re: proxy settings. Also, clear your cookies
and cache, etc. on your home machine. That has messed me up in the past.
I can't think of any reason that the Messenger disable would have anything
to do with it. Even though it redirects to gmail.google.com, try going to
gmail.com instead and see if that times out as well.
