What are the minimum required dimensions for a soffit over my
cabinets, if I am using 6" ducting? I would like the soffit to be as
shallow as possible. I live in Virginia.

When I say shallow, I am referring to the distance from the top of the
soffit (ceiling) to the top of the cabinets.
