I am unable to get the down arrow control when viewing video clips on websites even though I have registered my pro key. I have tried the Quick Time site with the same results. The online help does not deal with this problem. |

Hello glimmer-ga, . 1. Check you have registered your pro key correctly by going to the Quicktime Plug in settings > registration. Here you should find the key entered and the word 'pro' next to your player version if it has been upgraded correctly to pro status. 2. Due to copyright issues, not all movies are downloadable. The movie is only downloadable if the creator of the movie has not protected it. 3. If you go to this page Apple PR page, you will be able to download this movie as it is not download protected. http://www.apple.com/switch/ads/aaronadams.html 4. The movies are usually set to stream and play before the download is finished, so you cannot save the movie even when it starts playing until the full download has been completed. 5. Check you don't have multiple copies of quicktime plug-in installed in different browsers. Although you may have the pro plug-in installed in say Netscape, I'm not sure if you can download with Explorer with an older non pro plug-in. 6. If you are new to using Macintosh you have to ensure you hold the key down long enough before the arrow menu pops up, if you are new to PC, you have to right click. 7. If all the above doesn't work I would suggest a complete fresh install with the Apple Quicktime installer, and re-enter the quicktime pro key, as some files may have been corrupted. hope that helps, regards lot-ga |

What OS are you using? What version of QuickTime Pro? If it's MacOS, do you have old extensions or plugins that need to be removed or replaced? This information might help a researcher find the answer. If you are trying to download a file that your plugin sees, read on for my two cents: you might have to wait until the movie is finished downloading to get that arrow, but I'm not sure. Also, I believe there are HTML tags that web sites can add to prevent QuickTime from letting you download the file. I know this is true with QuickTime non-Pro, but I don't know if it is also true for QuickTime Pro. Good luck. |
