I have been struggling a lot with looking at women lustfully, and would like to know any resources with practical advice on how to fight this. I also have a girlfriend, and it obviously hurts her to know that I might be lusting after other women. Perhaps advice from the Bible or other religious texts, or even secular suggestions. Thank you so much! |

Hello jcurrie33~ Focus on the Family has a number of articles on combating and conquering lust. Here are several I recommend: ? ?Every Young Man?s Battle: How To Combat Lust,? Thank you very much for your work. I particularly found the “Addiction? Or Something Else?” By Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker with Mike Yorkey article interesting, and it was very long too! I have printed out most of the articles and look forward to reading them. Thanks again! |

The largest organization worldwide devoted specifically to help with lust addiction is Sexaholics Anonymous (www.sa.org). It is a 12-Step program in the tradition of AA. If you take the 12-steps of AA and replace the word "alcohol" with the word "lust", then you have the 12-steps of SA. |

If you're looking for a solution, rather than a justification, this may seem like a copout, but you may wish to read this article which discusses the chemical aspects of both love and lust: http://www.economist.com/printedition/displayStory.cfm?Story_ID=2424049, and get your girlfriend to read it too. Until you get your lust under control, it may help if you stop beating yourself up over it, and maybe she can be more understanding about it too. Just some friendly advice! - jc |

What the Bible says; First Thessalonians 4;3-8...This is what God wills.... Ephesians 5;5..."No fornicator [greek/por-nei`a] or unclean person, or greedy person- which means being an idolater-has any inheritance in the Kingdom of the Christ AND of God". The Kingdom is the one we pray for in the "Lord`s Prayer, Matthew 6;9,10. Also First Corinthians 6;9-11. All these scriptures guide us in how to behave. Its what God wants. God made us, and invented sex, but restricted it to be between a married couple. He brought Eve to Adam. But He sure disapproves of any straying. So simply put, once you have your own wife, lusting after others is wrong. All you do in life should be aimed at pleasing God [Ecclesiastes 12;13...The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is, fear the true God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man". |
