I'm going to be working from my in-law's home for the next couple of
weeks; unfortunately, they have modem-based Internet access and a
less-than-quiet working environment. I'm looking for a spot where I
can hook up my laptop via 802.11b or Ethernet and work throughout the
day; I'm willing to pay a reasonable daily fee for the space and the
Internet access, which must be fast (at least DSL/cable modem). This
location should be within a 20 minute drive of Sparta, NJ (07871). A
cafe, a library, or whatever will be fine; it should be indoors and
not aggressively noisy.

Hello

I used the site http://cybercaptive.com/ and looked for all the
verified cybercafes, public internet access points and kiosks in New
Jersey.
Looks like the closest to Sparta are a couple of places in Denver,
Pacific Tranel and Novaglobe.
I also checked Kinkos, MobileStar and Wayport locations but none is
within
20 minutes drive from Sparta.
I also found at http://www2.njstatelib.org/njlib/autoinet.htm that
both
Sparta and Dover have public libraries with public internet access but
I don't know if that is what you are looking for.

I hope this works for you

None of these sources provide the service I am looking for: the two
listings in Dover are storefronts with a PC or two servicing
immigrants and the libraries don't have any ability to hook up my
laptop. Are there no Internet cafes in Northern NJ?

Hello

I posted already the same clarification this afternoon but since it's
not here I'll try again and hope that it will not show up twice.

I did more research and really looks like you will have to travel a
little longer if you want to find whatyou are looking for.

Probably the best bet for now is

Kinko's - Parsippany NJ Routes 10 & 202
     1960 Route 10 West
     Parsippany, NJ 07054
     Phone: (973) 984-8028
     Fax: (973) 984-8029
     EMail: usa0864@kinkos.com
     Distance: 16.6 miles
     Driving Directions | Location Map

According to yahoo it's at 36 minutes from Sparta anad they claim (on
their site http://www.kinkos.com)

"Walk into any Kinko's store and in minutes you can be on the Internet
conducting business, researching a project, accessing your email,
posting your résumé, shopping online or just surfing the Web.

Kinko's makes it fast and easy. All our Macintosh and Windows PC
computer workstations are equipped with high-speed ISDN Internet
access for lightning-fast connections to the World Wide Web. You can
connect to the Internet up to three times faster than you can using
your home phone line."

Otherwise I found one more cybercafes through
http://www.cybercafe.com/
